Atmosphere

Fernanda: Bobcaygeon is mostly a brewery; unless there are events, there isn't much happening there.  The space is quite big, and it has a few communal tables.  Other than that, you'll see part of the brewery, a small merchandise section, and a small bottle shop.  I'm sure it would be fun to come by for one of the events, like trivia nights, with friends.

Scott: Hidden off the side of the road (we almost missed it), Bobcaygeon Brewing Co. is surprisingly spacious inside.  They don't wear the the fact that they're a brewery openly, hiding the process itself in the back of the building, behind walls and glass, and it feels like more of a casual bar, good for passing through during the day.  When we came it was completely empty, but for someone coming to pick up an order.  If you're looking for a quiet place to come for a drink, this is a good option.  You could even bring a small-to-moderate sized group with you, as they have the table-space for it.

Fernanda: There's no food except for maybe small snacks. There is no table service but the person working was very friendly and quick to answer any questions we had.

Scott: It was too bad that there was nothing to eat, but it also really doesn't have the look or feel of a place that would.  The bartender was friendly and helpful, and even offered to bring the flight to our table for us, despite the fact that we ordered at the bar.

Beer

(L-R) Sweet Tooth: Red Velvet Pastry Stout, Snow Bird Imperial Saison, India Pale Cider by

East Street Cider Co., and Ghost Town Ghost Pepper Stout

Fernanda: They seem to carry most of their beers only on tap, which means you probably need a growler to bring home the different styles they had.  Their bottle shop selection was not too varied.  They have a wide selection on tap.  I wish I could find more of their beers at the LCBO, because the ones we tried, I really enjoyed.  Many of their seasonal beers were not available at the bottle shop, which is really the only criticism I can give.  But I enjoyed everything that I tried, overall.

Scott: The selection of on tap beers appears to change regularly, considering that they're all listed on a chalkboard that's missing some names.  Still, there are a lot of options to choose from, including some experimental brews that we had to give a try.  I really enjoyed the Ghost Town Ghost Pepper Stout, which was nicely balanced with a subtle but noticeable spicy characteristic.  They also offer a guest cider from East Street Cider Co.  Interestingly, just as not all of the beers available on tap were in the bottle shop, not all of the beers they had in the bottle shop were on tap, either.  I would like to come back and try some of their standard beers, having really only had the experimental ones.

Overall

Hidden, but decently spacious inside, Bobcaygeon Brewing Co. offers an opportunity to have a quiet drink, be it alone or with a small group of friends.  Being located right across the street from a Costco, it's a good midday option for a drink before or after shopping.  If you like experimental beers, there will be plenty to choose from, but there are also some basic standards if that's more your preference.  It's never open late, and it's not likely to get raucous, but keep an eye out for their events if you want something a little different.
