Atmosphere

Fernanda: The place is small and quiet.  It has an old, rustic feeling to it.  For wintertime, it seems suitable for small groups only, but it does look like they have a nice big patio for summertime.  There are two rooms.  The first one you walk into is the taproom, and in the back you'll find the bottle shop.  You can see the brewery from the taproom, which was cool.

Scott: Stonehooker was a fairly new brewery at the time we came, and it was entirely empty outside of us.  The bartender informed us that in the summer it had been packed, however.  The taproom is small, intimate space with large windows, keeping it bright during the day.  It felt inviting.

Food and Service

Mae West Bodacious Orange Milkshake IPA by Stonehooker Brewing Company

Fernanda: The only person who was there seemed friendly and eager to tell us about each beer, offering samples for us to try.  There didn't seem to be any food.  They did, however, sell chips and nuts for a reasonable price.

Scott:  I asked the bartender a few questions about how long the brewery had been open and how well they had been doing, and he seemed happy to talk about it.  With no food, it's definitely a place to come for a casual drink, maybe after dinner.

Weiss Guy Hefeweizen by Stonehooker Brewing Company

Fernanda: They seem to have a wide selection, mostly experimental, which I'm not complaining about because the crazy, unusual stuff is what I like to try.  I tasted the Spicy Raspberry Saison and it was wild.  I'd never tasted something like that.  You could literally taste every flavour in one sip.  I would have ordered one full drink in the summer, but since it was winter I decided to get the Weiss Guy Hefeweizen, which was nice and warming.  You could really taste the quality and love put into this beer.  I would like to come back here to try more.

Scott: For a small, new brewery, they certainly had a lot of beer options (see the menu above).  I don't know how they're able to maintain that many brews at once, but I hope that they're able to continue doing so.  While the Mae West Bodacious Orange Milkshake IPA didn't inspire me as much as I'd hoped, it was still a solid beer, and I would definitely go back to try more.  There's more than enough variety for every type of beer lover.

Overall

Located in a nice area by the water, Stonehooker really feels like a summer place.  It's a little hidden in a strip with other businesses, but despite the industrial outside, the interior is very nice.  There are a few restaurants in the area and you'll probably want to eat before coming—especially if you want to try a few of their beers.  We definitely recommend giving it a try.
