Atmosphere

Fernanda: Relaxed.  Good for big or small groups.  They play pop music over the speakers.  The big space allows for private events.  It's a good place to hang out with friends, either before or after work.

Scott: They have a lot of space and it’s a very different experience when it’s full versus empty.  When empty, it’s a casual experience, good for a large group of friends.  When packed, it’s better for smaller groups, as it can get quite loud.  It has a definitive late-night bar feel, and the tables in the back room almost feel like an afterthought.  If you’re looking for a relaxed place to hang out at, that gets full, but has enough space not to feel cramped, then this is a good spot.  It’s definitely better at night when there’s more energy in the venue.

Food and Service

Grilled Chicken Club

Fernanda: Standard service for a bar.  No one is trying to rush you out, so that's nice.  The menu is of typical bar food.  I'd recommend the pretzel (it's definitely the best I've had).

Scott:  Usually, my server visits are few and far between.  Although orders often arrive quickly, it might take a while before you get the chance to ask for a second round.  This is the reason that some of my friends had chosen not to come here anymore.  If you’re coming on a Friday or Saturday night, you might want to make a reservation.  The menu has a decent amount of variety, and some of the food is quite good.  I’d definitely recommend the Grilled Chicken Club and the Roasted Vegetable Flatbread.

Beer

(L-R) Stonewall Light by Cool Beer Brewing Company, Kingpost ESB by The Collingwood Brewery, Naughty Neighbour by Nickel Brook Brewing Co., and Keefe's Irish Stout by Granite Brewery

Fernanda: They have a wide variety of craft beer, not just from Toronto, but from Canada as a whole.  You will likely find a type of beer you like—they have all kinds.  Most of these are available on draught.  The pricing is reasonable.  They have good deals for beer throughout the week, so make sure to check their website before going.

Scott: They offer a fairly wide variety of styles from a number of different breweries, and also include some rotating taps.  It’s definitely worth having one of the flights if you like trying new beers.  Most of the breweries represented are Ontario breweries.  There’s really something for everyone.  It’s also worth noting that they have a selection of 14oz beers for $4 between 4pm and 7pm Tuesday through Thursday, and all night on Mondays.

Overall

As long as you're not in a rush, The Craft is a great place for all types of casual functions.  You can hang out by the bar if you're just looking for a quick drink with one or two friends, or even by yourself.  The tables provide the option to come with groups large and small.  There is enough food variety to appeal to most people, and it is of a high enough quality to keep you happy, even if you're not drinking.  The Craft is fairly close to BMO Field and Lamport Stadium, if you're looking for a place to go before or after a game.
